AFTER USING THE GIRLS BATHROOM, I WALKED OUT OF MY STORE AND FOUND A BOY THERE. I WAS SHOCKED AND UNCOMFORTABLE, NOT BECAUSE I WANTED TO JUDGE ANYONE, BUT BECAUSE I NO LONGER FELT SAFE IN A SPACE MEANT FOR GIRLS. I REPORTED IT TO THE VICE PRINCIPAL, TRUSTING THAT MY SCHOOL WOULD PROTECT EVERY STUDENT'S RIGHT TO PRIVACY AND SAFETY. LATER THAT DAY, MY DAD GOT A CALL SAYING THE DISTRICT GAVE THE MALE STUDENT SPECIAL PERMISSION TO USE THE GIRLS BATHROOM. I FELT I FILED A TITLE NINE COMPLAINT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT GIRLS DESERVE SAFE PRIVATE SPACES, AND THAT SCHOOLS SHOULD NEVER IGNORE THE CONCERNS OF THEIR STUDENTS. WHEN I RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINT, I WAS TOLD MY FEELINGS DIDN'T MATTER, THAT BEING AWKWARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE WASN'T ENOUGH, BUT IT IS ENOUGH.
FEELING UNSAFE IN A SPACE THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE SHOULD MATTER. IT SHOULD MATTER TO EVERY PARENT, EVERY TEACHER, AND EVERY STUDENT WHO BELIEVES IN PROTECTING OUR YOUTH BEFORE SOMETHING GOES WRONG. AND THEN AFTER THE STUDENTS WERE BROUGHT IN TO HAVE AN INTERACTIVE PRESENTATION OR ACTIVITY WITH THEIR FAMILIES, WHERE THEY ACTUALLY GOT TO MAKE SOME TAMALES, AND NORTHGATE, I THINK, PROVIDED IF I BELIEVE RIGHT, IF I HEARD RIGHT, PROVIDED A LOT OF THE SUPPLIES, WHICH WAS GREAT. I HAD A LITTLE TROUBLE FOLLOWING IT AT ONE POINT, BUT IT WAS IT WAS GOOD AGAIN, SEEING SEEING THE KIDS AGAIN GET TO GET TO USE THEIR GIFTS AND PERFORM IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT SCENARIOS AND ENVIRONMENTS. HIGHLIGHT. SO NORTH ORANGE COUNTY RTP HAD THEIR BOARD MEETING AND A FEW HIGHLIGHTS FOR EVERYONE THERE. I KNOW WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT CTE A LOT, AND THIS YEAR OUR NORTH ORANGE COUNTY ROP, IN CONJUNCTION WITH ALL OF THE THE FIVE JPA MEMBERS THAT ARE PART OF ROP, APPLIED FOR 100% OF THEIR ADA AND APPLIED FOR THE ROUND 11 GRANT, AND WE RECEIVED THE THIRD HIGHEST SEATING ALLOCATION IN THE STATE AS THAT JOINT. THAT JOINT GROUP, AND ADDITIONALLY, BECAUSE WE DID THAT TOGETHER, ALL THE 100% OF ADA WOULD GO TO THE ROP TO BE SPLIT UP. AFTER THAT, IT ACTUALLY INCREASED OUR ALLOCATION EVEN HIGHER, AND THE INCREASE WAS 69,000. SO THE PARTNERSHIP THAT WE HAVE IS GREAT. WE HAD THE ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD ASSOCIATION DINNER MEETING LAST WEEK, AND WE GOT TO HEAR ONCE AGAIN FROM DOCTOR CANDY, AND I CAN'T REMEMBER HER SING, AND SHE CAME AND PRESENTED TO ALL OF US ON FOR THE TRUST AND INSPIRE WORKSHOP AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. SO IT WAS A DIFFERENT PRESENTATION, SO I FELT LIKE I GOT EVEN MORE OUT OF IT. IT WAS JUST IT REALLY INSPIRED ME AT THAT MOMENT TO I WAS REALLY THRILLED TO SEE THAT NOT ONLY IS SHE SHARING THAT INFORMATION WITH US, THAT OTHER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS IN THE COUNTY ARE HEARING THAT AS WELL. CALIFORNIA NUTRITION ADVISORY COUNCIL, WE JUST HAD OUR FIRST OR SECOND MEETING OF THE YEAR IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, AND I WAS SELECTED AS CHAIR FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR. SO WHAT WE'LL BE WORKING ON, WE JUST PUT OUT SOME INFORMATION TO SUPPORT GOVERNOR NEWSOM'S UPDATE TO THE NUTRITION GUIDELINES FOR FOR EDUCATION AND PULLING THE SOME OF THE PRESERVATIVES OUT THAT WE WILL NOT ABLE BE ABLE TO USE AND HERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. SO PUTTING SOME INFORMATION TOGETHER THAT WILL BE A TOOL KIT FOR DISTRICTS TO USE, AS WELL AS LOOKING AT ADEQUATE TIME TO EAT THE THE NUMBER OF MINUTES, THE THAT ARE RECOMMENDED FOR STUDENTS TO HAVE FROM THE LAST PERSON THAT IS FED IN THE LUNCH LINE ALL THE WAY UNTIL THE BELL RINGS. ALL THE STUDENTS WERE GOING DOWN THE LINE AND THEY HAD MADE CARDS FOR OUR FIRST RESPONDERS, FOR OUR POLICE OFFICERS, AND FOR OUR FIREMEN. AND THIS ONE STUDENT WAS REALLY PROUD OF THEIR CARD. AND I WAS SO IMPRESSED BY ONE OF OUR POLICE OFFICERS, THEY QUICKLY SEEING THIS THING, QUICKLY PULLED OUT A STICKER AND SAID, LET'S DO A TRADE. AND THE STUDENT QUICKLY GAVE UP THEIR CARD FOR THE STICKER. AND IT WAS JUST SUCH A NICE MOMENT. AND TO SEE THE COMPASSION OF OUR OUR POLICE OFFICERS AND TURNING KIND OF AN AWKWARD SITUATION INTO A REALLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL INVOLVED. I ATTENDED THE BELL GAME FOR VALENCIA AND EL DORADO, SO CONGRATULATIONS TO THE EL DORADO HAWKS ON WINNING THE BELL THIS YEAR. AND I JUST WANTED TO DO A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO BOTH STUDENT SECTIONS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FIELD. THEY CAME WITH THEIR FULL SCHOOL PRIDE AND ENTHUSIASM. I HAD THE BEST TIME JUST WATCHING THEM AND SEEING THEM INTERACT AND IT WAS A GREAT GAME, GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP AND I HEAR IT'S NOW WE'RE TIED, WE'RE EVEN, EVEN WINS FOR BOTH SCHOOLS. I ATTENDED THE PLACENTIA STATE OF THE CITY AND THEY HIGHLIGHTED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DISTRICT THAT WE HAVE WITH OC GRIP AND BUILDING THOSE RELATIONS AND PREVENTING GANG RECRUITMENT. SO THAT WAS NICE TO SEE. I ALSO LISTENED IN ON A POLICY UPDATE BY CSBA AND THEY HAD A LOT OF UPDATES ON ABSENCES, SAFETY, AND OF COURSE A LARGE SECTION WAS ON THE MAHMOOD POLICIES THAT WERE AFFECTED. I ALSO ATTENDED THE WOMEN OF INDUSTRY WITH MISS QUINTERO AND IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT. I ATTENDED TRUST INSPIRE TRAINING THAT TOOK PLACE AT THE DISTRICT FOR OUR MANAGERS, AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. I ATTENDED THE MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL AT ESPERANZA AND IT WAS JUST SO FUN TO WATCH THE STUDENTS COMPETE. AND WHAT REALLY STOOD OUT TO ME IS I'VE BEEN ATTENDING. I THINK I'VE GONE EVERY YEAR TO THE VOLLEYBALL IS THE IMPROVEMENT THAT THESE THESE STUDENTS ARE MAKING. THEY ARE LEARNING THE GAME. THEY'RE MASTERING IT. WHAT THEY STARTED OFF WITH SEVERAL YEARS AGO IS AND WHERE THEY ARE TODAY IS JUST LEAPS AND BOUNDS. THERE WAS LOTS OF LOTS OF RALLIES AND REALLY CLOSE POINTS EARNED AND AMAZING SHOTS TO GET THE GET THE BALL BACK AND AND TRY TO SCORE. AND I JUST COULD NOT BELIEVE THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY THAT THESE STUDENTS HAD HAVE GONE TO IN JUST A FEW SHORT YEARS OF DOING THESE TOURNAMENTS. I ATTENDED THE STATE OF THE CITY FOR YORBA LINDA, AND IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR THEM GIVE UPDATES AND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THEM. AND I ALSO ATTENDED THE HERITAGE DAY PARADE. IT'S A BIG THING IN OUR FAMILY. I'VE BEEN GOING SINCE I WAS REALLY YOUNG AND WE NEVER MISS IT. OH, BUT THE STATE OF THE CITY. I WANTED TO CONGRATULATE CHARLOTTE WATANABE KNAPP. I ALSO DID A SCHOOL VISIT AT GLENVIEW AND IT WAS A GREAT MORNING.
